As last week's election in Israel ushered in the most right wing government ever, Jordan is warning Israel "any attempt to change the status quo on the Temple Mount" will harm ties between the two countries. The status quo being only Muslims are allowed to pray on the Temple Mount. A big source of the tension is stemming from far-right lawmaker Itamar Ben-Gvir (who has been visiting the Temple Mount) and is in the running to be the new Public Security Minister. If he is chosen for that position he would be in charge of setting policy on the Temple Mount.
